A little more about this project

The Liana Trust has set up libraries in two schools, CKMC Rathnapuri and Rathnapuri Primary Government School, and will be doing so in two more schools in 2024. The libraries are populated with English and Kannada books of diverse formats and themes. The space and resources also enable The Liana Trust to conduct workshops and outreach sessions with children.

The goal

The focus of these libraries is to generally drive more engagement with the students and foster a sense of community amongst educators and students. Conservation, as a subject, will also prominently feature in their activities, with each library containing a collection of nature and conservation-centric books amongst other subjects.

The background

The Liana Trust have always considered children to be amongst their most important stakeholders, routinely conducting conservation-focused outreach and awareness-building activities at both government and low-income private schools.

They also work with these schools to facilitate change in areas that have been identified both by the teachers and students, generating a deeper sense of involvement amongst all stakeholders in the process.

How you can help

The Liana Trust could use your support in funding the collection of nature and conservation-centric books, field guides and encyclopaedias for the schools they have and will be setting up.

THE EXPECTED IMPACT

The 4 libraries will provide ~1500 children

with access to resources and educational sessions
