As a Citizen Scientist, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the conservation and understanding of our city's intertidal biodiversity. Your role will involve documenting and recording the diversity of marine life during low tides and uploading the data to Coastal Conservation Foundation's database on iNaturalist. This will help researchers and environmentalists gain valuable insights into the health of intertidal ecosystems and support CCF's conservation initiatives.
Responsibilities:

Intertidal Biodiversity Documentation:

Conduct field surveys during low tides to observe and document intertidal species along different shores across the city

Utilize appropriate tools, such as cameras or smartphones, to capture clear images of the identified species

Data Collection and Recording:

Record detailed information about each observed species, including species name, location, date, and other relevant data

Enter the collected data into CCF's database on iNaturalist, ensuring accuracy and consistency

Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:

Collaborate with other Citizen Scientists and team members to share findings and insights

Participate in occasional workshops or training sessions to enhance knowledge of marine biodiversity and data collection techniques

Marine Science Advocacy:

Promote the importance of intertidal biodiversity conservation within the community and raise awareness about the role of Citizen Scientists in environmental research

Qualifications:

Passion for marine life and environmental conservation

Previous experience as a Citizen Scientist is not required; we welcome individuals who are eager to learn and contribute

Marine science knowledge will be advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn about intertidal species is essential
Time Commitment:
This position requires a commitment of approximately 3 hours per day for 7 days a month. Additional time may be required for occasional workshops or training sessions.
Location:
Citizen Scientists will have to visit different shores across the country during low tides to conduct surveys
